Rather than adapting a sharpened sword for this role, the Tourney Series incorporates a 2mm rounded edge, durable spring steel construction and a hilt engineered to withstand repeated use. At 36 1/2 inches overall, it retains the compact, authoritative proportions associated with the classic Viking sword while offering the durability expected from modern reenactment equipment.

Viking Age swords were prestigious arms, with broad blades, prominent fullers and relatively short grips suited to single handed use. Kingston Arms draws on that familiar historical form while making deliberate concessions for modern sparring and performance. The long fuller reduces unnecessary blade mass and contributes to the sword's balance, while the oval, slightly barrel shaped grip provides positive orientation in the hand. Its cord wrapped leather construction also gives the grip a traditional appearance that complements historical clothing and armour.

The 30 inch blade is forged from 9260 spring steel and tempered to approximately 50 HRC, providing the resilience required of a blunt sword intended for repeated use. Kingston Arms reinforces the hilt with its King-Peen system, which uses a steel tab beneath the grip that is pinned through the tang to help prevent the guard from loosening over time. The stainless steel pommel is pressed into position and hot peened, completing a traditional through-tang assembly designed with durability in mind. A wood core scabbard wrapped in leather and finished with a stainless steel chape is included.
