Halbards, Naginata, Spearheads and Caps
The pike or long spear was an effective infantry weapon in formation and could be devistating to an oncoming cavalry charge. The Halbard (polearm) first made its apperance in the 13th century due to the evolution of armor. In the 15th century the Swiss army switched there pikemen over to the halberd and today it is still carried by the Swiss guard at the Vatican.
