Ready for the Arena – The Practical Knightly Sword

Whether you're preparing for your next reenactment, live steel event, or stage production, the Practical Knightly Sword is the trusted companion of performers and historical enthusiasts across the globe. Built for rigorous use without compromising historical aesthetics, this sword offers the ideal balance between authenticity, safety, and durability. With its affordable price point and robust build, it’s a favorite among members of medieval combat societies and living history groups alike.

Inspired by medieval arming swords found in museum collections, the Practical Knightly Sword channels the spirit of 13th to 15th century European warriors. Known for their effectiveness in both single combat and battlefield formations, these knightly swords were valued for their versatility. Designed with the needs of reenactors in mind, this version remains faithful to the appearance of period weapons while integrating modern materials and construction methods that enhance safety and reliability.

Crafted from 1065 high-carbon steel and tempered to a Rockwell hardness of 50HRC, the blade is built to take repeated use without chipping or breaking. The blade features a deep fuller for improved handling and is left unsharpened with 1/16” wide edges and a rounded tip, meeting safety standards for most reenactment organizations. The full tang has radiused shoulders and no welds, with the end of the tang securely peened over the stainless-steel pommel—a traditional method that prevents loosening over time. The hilt is authentically styled with a leather-wrapped hardwood grip for secure handling. A durable, glass-filled resin scabbard accompanies the sword, resistant to swelling and corrosion, with adjustable belt rings for vertical or horizontal carry. The scabbard’s wood-grain finish looks great out of the box, but also provides the perfect canvas for custom decoration to suit your knightly persona.
