Basket Hilt Swords, Scottish Military Swords
The Basket Hilted sword was a development of adding quillons to crossguards in the Late Middle Ages and traditionally featured a single edged broadsword blade. As time passed the basket became more complex and ornate while providing almost full coverage of the hand against cuts. The most famed in this class of sword was the Scottish Broadsword, Schiavona and the Mortuary Sword.
