"I'm sure it would be great if used with better protective equipment as designed for; for our purposes, too heavy and dangerous for free sparring with limited protection like we use." - 06/04/2012

J - Verified Buyer

"Very durable, but the weight and balance and pommel make it difficult to weild. It's really good for training strength and stance, but very poor for sparring. I wound up whittling down the pommel to allow some kind of two handed use, as the corners of the pommel hurt your 2nd hand, should you use it-- which you probably do with sparring with this beast. Great for strength training, but as far as sparring goes I would recommend the Bokken or Hand and a Half." - 05/18/2012

"They are somewhat blade-heavy, but minus the guard, the balance is better." - 01/05/2012

"The removable hilt won't secure fully to the main piece." - 12/02/2011

Response: You need to apply a hard constant preasure on the guard to seat it properly. It is very tight so that it doesn't move during use.
