The 15th century longsword, often called a hand-and-half, saw a great deal of service as a weapon of war, but was also employed a great deal as a civilian weapon of self- defense. Coupled with a dagger, the longsword was an excellent defense against robbers, thieves, footpads, assassins and even some of the robber bands that might roam the countryside. A good serviceable point allowed it to be used for thrusting, and a medium weight allowed it to be used easily and carried with equal ease. This weight also allowed it to be used with one hand with a dagger in the other. But when needed, the longsword could be gripped with both hands for a very powerful cut. Pommel and guard are steel. Grip is wood wrapped with leather and wire. A beautiful and very functional sword. The 15th Century Longsword is made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

"he seems to like it...but it was a gift so he may be just saying that...but i think he really does like it. I am not sure how to rate it though, as I have no knowledge about these things ;-)"

"The blade isn't "whippy" considering the length, and the scabbard fits well because of the ricasso. Very nice."

A - Verified Buyer

"I love my 15th Century Long Sword! I’ve been trying to collect swords for years, and for years I’ve faced disappointment after disappointment. This is the first sword I’ve gotten my hands on that feels authentic (because it is). No rat tail tangs, no shiny coating that flakes off, and it doesn’t weigh 10 pounds."

C - Verified Buyer

"Good quality. As described & pictured."
