Five Fingers Short Sword

The Cinquedea is a distinctive and historical weapon from the Renaissance period, specifically from the late 15th to early 16th centuries, originating in northern Italy, particularly in Venice. The Cinquedea is easily recognized by it's broad, triangular blade that tapers sharply to a point. The name "Cinquedea" means "five fingers," which refers to the width of the blade at the base, typically around five fingers.

Weapon and a Status Symbol

The Cinquedea was popular among the wealthy and noble classes in northern Italy, especially in Venice. It was used both as a weapon and a status symbol, often carried openly as a sidearm. Its wide blade made it effective for slashing and thrusting. It was suitable for close combat, making it a favored weapon for self-defense in urban environments. Many Cinquedeas were richly decorated, with engravings and intricate designs, reflecting the Renaissance appreciation for art and craftsmanship. They often depicted scenes from mythology, history, or allegory.

Forged and Tempered

Deepeeka's Cinquedea has been forged and tempered like the originals using high carbon steel. These swords can be used for theatrical style duelling and fight choreography. With the optional sharpening service these short swords can also take down some pretty formidable sword targets. Comes complete with a wood cored, leather wrapped scabbard featuring brass parts to complement the hilt details.
