Post Napoleonic British Sword

One of the most famous British light cavalry swords is the 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Sabre. This sword was designed by Captain John Gaspard Le Marchant and was extensively used during the Napoleonic Wars, particularly in the Peninsular War and at the Battle of Waterloo. The sword was favored for its effectiveness in cavalry charges and close combat. After the Napoleonic Wars, the British Army introduced the 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Sabre. This sword addressed some of the perceived shortcomings of the 1796 model.

Sabre Improvements

The new blade was also slightly curved with a spear point for improved thrusting capability over its predecessors very wide hatchet tip which limited it's use during a cavalry charge. The hilt featured a three-bar guard for better hand protection over the earlier modals stirrup guard.

Deepeeka's British Light Cavalry Sabre

Deepeeka's British Light Cavalry Sword is inspired by the post Napoleonic British sabre's which has both cut and thrust capabilities. We have had them go a step further with this sword over their standard version by forging it with a c60 high carbon steel and a tempered blade. The handle is made from wood with wire wrapping and has a full steel scabbard. This sword is great for the re-enactor, practitioner and makes for a great platform for customization.
