The early morning mists rise...the day grows brighter, but softly, as if in no hurry to encourage the deadly events about to take place. Seconds check the length of the weapons, study it in the light to make sure it doesn't favor either participant, doing everything with the studied politeness and grave consideration appropriate to the occasion. At last the seconds step back, the signal is given and the combatants step forward in a flurry of action and ringing steel until one falls to the ground, clutching his sword arm. The seconds confer, honor is satisfied, and the field is quickly abandoned. After all, dueling was not exactly legal, even in the 17th century. This north European rapier, dating from about 1625 is just the kind of weapon many duelists would have carried on the field of honor. The blade is narrow with the traditional diamond cross-section. The steel bars provide a very attractive hilt design and the bone grip is wrapped with twisted wire borders by straight wire. The pommel counterbalances the blade superbly, giving it a feeling of speed and lightness. This functional sword is made by Windlass Steelcrafts from high carbon steel. Scabbard included.
