This Francesca axe is a beautiful example of a Frankish weapon used during the earlier part of the Middle Ages. An axe like this was also carried by Germanic armies into battle and was used in hand-to-hand combat, as well as a lethal throwing weapon. Our version, manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts, has a rustic forge finish on the blade and the curved wooden shaft, making this feel great in your hand. Replacement shaft available.

"Smaller than I thought but beautiful pieces " - Gary (5/5)
"The wood has a strange smell and the forge finish is rough, and it so it needs a bit of cleaning; the blade and edge geometry is good but additionally sharpening is needed if you intend to throw it and have it stick in wooden targets. Given it's weight distribution - i.e. it's lighter and lower head - it may be better suited as a hand axe than a throwing axe. It is on the lighter side, but the shaft and axe-head are firmly attached and are not going anywhere even after repeated blows, and even with the cold winter the wood held firm. " - Marko (4/5)
