By: Paul Chen - Hanwei
The return of a classic pairing .. our Tiger Wakizashi from Hanwei is nostalgic reissue of the original (SH1205) folded steel katana made in the early 2000s. The specifications are painstakingly reproduced for accurancy. The K120C powder steel blade is differentially tempered with a traditional claying method to the grain patter (hada) showing distinct layers. The temper line (hamon) is evident and prominent. the blade features groove (bo-hi) on both sides. The tsuba is made from blackened iron depicting a "stalking tiger" inlaid in brass. The ray skin (same) is covered on the handle (tsuka) with Japanese Cotton. The saya is deeply lacquered in black and inlaid with brass bamboo leaves.
The Tiger Wakizashi is a great companion piece to the Tiger Katana that is made in the same tradition and high quality materials, yet can stand alone in superior functionality and grace.
