Archers always carried an in-close fighting sidearm, and an axe like this one was a perfect choice as both a good worker and a weapon. The flat poll was good for hammering in stakes that were often used in the defensive line, and then the blade could be used to sharpen them. This is a basic European pattern that was carried and used by infantry as well as mounted warriors as its design is just so practical for all kinds of uses in the field as well as war. Tempered steel head on a good hardwood shaft. Add this highly functional piece of history to your collection.

"The handle had sustained pressure fractures during assembly. But it's not a deal breaker, the new oak one I put on is better."

Response: We would be happy to replace that for you, but it sounds like you have already taken care of it.

"head is loose and wobbles, but nice axe overall."

"The Archer's axe "feels" noce in the hand and embodies all those qualities a hand ace should have. It should come sharpened, though."

Response: we have enabled a sharpening service

"This is a great axe. It has a nice hardwood handle and a beautiful blade. It has a nail puller in the middle, and a heavy hammer on the other side, which is great. I took about a hundred swings at a tree with this and it's shown no damage whatsoever. I would without a doubt rely on this for camping or wilderness survival. My only complaint is that while it came at least reasonably sharp, I felt the blade could have been a bit sharper. That might just be because it's an axe, though. "
