Effective Cutting Weapon

Spears have come in all types but one of the most interesting is the hewing spear, Unlike the more common throwing spearheads and thrusting spearheads the hewing spear was designed to be able to deliver an effective slashing cut. Popular amongst vikings these spears could be wielded by a skilled spearman much like the Japanese naginata or a basic European styled polearm. The wielder would have the reach advantage over most opponents armed with a sword or axe and had a choice of thrusting or powerful slashing attacks unlike the thrusting spears limited forward thrust.

Forged and Functional

Like all our functional medieval inspired armaments this hewing spear is made traditionally by professional blade smiths. Forged in fire and oil quenched to the perfect hardness this piece is ready for training, re-enactments or full Western Martial Arts. If you opt to edge the hewing spear you can feel it's full potential striking sword and spear targets. This is a fully functional spear head ready to be mounted on a 1-1/4" shaft of your choosing and can also be used by spear hunters.
