Made for WMA and SCA

The Houndskull Bascinet was popular in the late 14th. and early 15th. Centuries as it is popular today with Western Martial Artists. The pointed visor provided a deflecting surface for blows to the face and also improved ventilation leaving a knight less fatigued . This style of helmet was typically worn with an Aventail which was similar to the maille coif except it attached directly to the helm instead of being worn as a hood under the helmet. There are attachment points for your own aventail provided in this version, which is based on a Milanese original which is not included with the helmet.

Ready For Battle

This helm is not just a decorator piece. It meets the safety requirements set by various medieval re-enactment groups and can be used for WMA (Western Martial Arts) It has been crafted in a very heavy 14 ga. steel and offers full head and face protection. The helmet is complete with an adjustable liner and leather chin strap to keep it stable. The lining is properly stitched to the helmet itself instead of using modern shortcuts or adhesives. As for all martial arts equipment we do recommend you consult with your group if you intend to use it. Some groups may have additional requirements depending on the weaponry that is involved in your discipline.
