By: Dragon King
The Savior Katana by Dragon King embodies the power of the Kami throughout the entire motif. A Kami is Shinto deity, a spirit or a god. Many kami are considered the ancient ancestors of family or clans, of which ancestors became kami upon death if they embodied the values and virtues of kami in life. There were many classes of kami but many were believed to be guardian spirits. The artisans at Dragon King Forge convey this ancient theme beautifully throughout all of the furnishings on this katana without being gaudy or pretentious. When you grip the Savior Katana in your hands, you become one with the musubi as the katana becomes an extension of your soul.
The forged T10 steel blade features true clay differential tempering that produces a distinctive hamon (temper line). The traditional polish enhances the visibility of real hamon and brings the shinogi-ji (flat section) to a mirror shine. The blade is hardened to an HRC 60 cutting edge and softer HRC 40 back for flexibility which is ideal for cutting if you wish to put it to the test. The blade rests in a deep blue saya (scabbard) with a buffalo horn kurikata (knob) contrasted by the white, yellow and blue sageo (cord). The silver sword menuki compliments the white same (ray skin) and black cotton ito (wrap) and the notched silver seppa (spacers). All the furnishings including the kashira, fuchi and tsuba are professionally finished.
