The Ancient Iron Katana - SkyJiro Forge

Product Description

The Ancient Iron Katana is a beautiful blend with modern and old world techniques to achieve a good heavy cutting katana for the mid-level martial artist. It was forged for martial arts use in the dojo with proper training but can also be appreciated by the Japanese sword enthusiast and collector.

Dojo Cutting Sword

This katana was forged using a traditional folded high carbon steel. Finely polished with Japanese water stones reveals the hada which is the “grain like” pattern in the steel created during the folding process. Made from Skyjiro forges .72% carbon sword steel this sword will make quick work of tatami during tameshigiri. This piece also has been through tempered which is not traditional to Japanese swords but has proven its resilience for beginner to intermediate sword practitioners. The hamon is created by differential tempering, so a tasteful double imitation hamon is applied to give this folded blade the aesthetic appearance of a differential hardened blade. For proof of authenticity the SkyJiro forge sword smith will etch his signature on the tang as done traditionally on ancient Japanese blades.
