Oakshott Type X

The Classic Medieval Sword is an Oakeshott Type X with a Type I pommel and a Type VII crossguard. The long and wide #fuller on this blade lightens the overall sword and makes it possible to deliver fast and shearing cuts capable of cutting through the mail and padding that were worn during the period. The long guard offers good protection from an opponent's shield or blade while the classic wheel pommel brings the sword very nicely into balance. This type of medieval sword was in service for a long period of time throughout all of Europe. The Classic Medieval Sword is made by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp. Circa 1300

"My feelings towards Reliks are reflected in the fact that I am a 15-year VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER. What more do I have to say? The products are of the very highest quality. The prices are very fair and competitive. The delivery times can be jaw-dropping, and the company is proudly Canadian! Amen."

"Good value is to be found here; the construction is sturdy (no rattle) and the sword is quite hefty. The finish leaves a bit to be desired, and the sword is indeed quite plain, but that need not necessarily be a bad thing. Definitely requires a strong arm to wield with speed and accuracy."

"Oakeshott type X, a classic knights' sword! It's certainly the heaviest sword I own, it feels unstoppable. A suburito (heavy training bokken) is not even this heavy. Using this is a good way to get a bit of control and grip exercise out of your drills. I wish the scabbard was wood wrapped in leather, but the one it came with is just a floppy leather thing with some steel fittings. It only has a peg on it for wearing it on your belt, doesn't exactly feel secure so you're probably better off getting a sword frog for that. You can see the handmade hammering on the blade and it has a nice mirror finish. I love this sword!"
