Powerful Chopper

Since 1943 these Kukris have been made by one government contractor - Windlass Steelcrafts. The original, official military issue! Hand-forged from high carbon steel, each includes a regulation sheath with 2 accessory knives - the Chakmak & Karda. A must for outdoor activities that require chopping and cutting. The full profile tang, 1065 high carbon steel blade has the traditional religious notch symbolic of the trident (3 pronged spear) of Shiva. The contoured handle is genuine buffalo horn and it has a brass pommel and bolster. Includes leather scabbard with Chakmak & Karda, small accessory knives traditionally used with the Kukri. This powerful chopping knife is issued to Gurkha Officers in India and is the only Kukri on the market that comes with a copy of the government contract, the ordinance drawing, and spec sheet. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts and comes factory sharp. The accessory knives: The chakmak & karda accessory knives are a traditional part of the kukri. The chakmak has no edge. It is a honing/sharpening tool of hardened “sharpening” steel with a wood handle. This tool is used to is to maintain the kukri edge and ensure it always has a sharp and burr-free edge. The chakmak also makes a great as a striker since the spine is flat and rigid. The karda, on the other hand, does have an edge. This little knife is great for detailed tasks such as skinning, carving, or whittling. The scabbard: The scabbard is designed to have a slightly loose fit and is intended to be worn with the blade-tip down. Because of the extreme compound curvature of the blade, a conventional tight fit would make the knife very difficult to remove without cutting through the scabbard and possibly the hand holding it. Additionally, the wood lining in the sheath may absorb moisture and swell in humid conditions; this must be accounted for when the scabbard is made.

"The build quality of the Kukri is excellent, with the weight in the blade it serves as a great utility knife for hunting."

"This is probably the best piece on the site for the money. For $40 it's a lot. A beautiful kukri with a horn handle and brass fittings and a high carbon steel blade, plus 2 small knives, also with buffalo horn + brass fittings and carbon steel blades, and a handsome leather sheath. I got the sharpening service and it came to me ready for some use. I have to reccomend the other kukri's if your looking into using this as a machete, just because they're longer, but for display this piece is much nicer (In my opinion) and it's still incredibly functional.
