The Armourer’s Katana pays homage to one of Japan’s most revered sword makers, Nagasone Kotetsu of the Edo period. Born into a family of armorers, Kotetsu transitioned from crafting samurai armor to forging blades of unparalleled sharpness and durability. Its uniquely shaped tsuba features a pierced yanone (arrowhead) motif echoed in the menuki, symbolizing both precision and purpose. The furniture is finished in a subdued blackened texture, contrasted by gleaming silver menuki. A dark brown silk ito is expertly wrapped in the traditional diamond pattern over real same-gawa (ray skin) for a secure, elegant grip. The dark chocolate brown saya (scabbard) complements the handle, accented by a light brown sageo and buffalo horn kurikata and kojiri—a refined, cohesive look inspired by samurai tradition.
