Tomoe and Crane Katana

Blending traditional symbolism with practical craftsmanship, the Tomoe & Crane Katana is a stunning sword designed for collectors and practitioners alike. Measuring 39 1/4" overall, this katana boasts a 28" blade forged from 1045 carbon steel, with a 7mm spine thickness and a prominent bo hi (fuller) to reduce weight and enhance balance.

The tsuka (handle) is wrapped in classic black cotton ito over genuine ray skin, offering an authentic feel and secure grip. Tomoe symbols, representing strength and spiritual motion adorn the fuchi and kashira, while elegant crane motifs, symbolizing longevity and grace, decorate the tsuba and included kogatana (small utility knife). The kogatana was a small utility knife traditionally carried in the scabbard (saya) of a samurai’s katana or wakizashi. Its primary purpose was practical, everyday use tasks such as cutting paper, sharpening tools, preparing food, or crafting small items, allowing the samurai to preserve the sharp edge of their main sword for combat.

Housed in a sleek, metal flake brown scabbard, this katana includes a matching metal kogatana nestled in its own side compartment, completing the traditional aesthetic. The sword can be fully disassembled for maintenance and comes with a protective sword bag for safe storage or transport.
