Pipe tomahawks are closely associated with the North American frontier, where original examples combined the form of a small axe with a functioning smoking pipe. This Cold Steel interpretation preserves that distinctive appearance without reproducing the smoking function. The turned and ribbed poll is shaped to resemble a traditional pipe bowl, giving the hawk its recognizable silhouette, but it is made from solid steel and cannot be used as a smoking pipe.

The head is precision forged from 1055 carbon steel and features a long, wide cutting edge with a 3 inch blade. Opposite the edge is a solid, fully hardened hammer poll suitable for driving nails, spikes and stakes. The head is mounted on a 22 inch American hickory handle, a traditional handle material valued for its combination of strength and resilience.
