Signature Series Sword of St Michael by Windlass Steelcrafts.
Metal tip or chape of the St Michael Signature Series Sword.
The scabbard now has a wooden core underneath the leather exterior.
Peened pommel of the Windlass Steelcrafts St Michael sword.
The grip features leather that is dimpled using a historically authentic "wet-wrap" process, during which fine cord is tightly wrapped around a wet leather grip.
The falchion is often misimagined as a heavy and awkward weapon, only appropriate as standard infantryman’s weapon intended for brutish chopping.
Contrary to belief, historical falchions were well balanced and fast, and were used by a wide spectrum of the medieval social strata. Most surviving examples are highly decorated and were obviously owned by men of wealth.
This falchion appears in a 15th century Palliaolo painting of St. Michael slaying a dragon, on display in the Florence Museum.
