This is a superb reproduction of the style favored in the 17th C after the establishment of the Tokugawa Shogunate. They are differentially tempered producing a very hard edge and a spring tempered back to make them quite strong and tough with excellent edge-holding ability. Traditional construction is used throughout, with a distinctive tsuba, matching fittings and traditional leather grip wrap. Wooden scabbards have a non-fingerprinting matte black finish. This functional sword has a 28 1/2" blade, 1 1/8" wide, 1/4" thick.
