Frenchie Jin, creator of the Seasonal katana series, or as we refer to as "The sword of the seasons" has created a beautiful sword of summer, drawing inspiration from the tranquil Japanese water gardens. The Japanese gardens to some are a place of relaxation and recreation but the gardens created in Buddhist temples and frequented by samurai were designed for deep contemplation and meditation. The Lotus flower itself found on the tsuba is a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. A tree motif, the snail and frog can all be found in the furniture of this katana adding fertility and good fortune to the wielder of this sword. The Katana fittings (tsuba, fuchi, tsuka-ito and fuchi-kashira) have been blackened to give a nice contrast to the real white ray skin handle. The well thought out theme makes this a perfect sword of summer complementing the other 3 pieces in this collection. Dragon King's Summer Lotus Katana.
The blade is forged from 5160 high carbon steel featuring a 1 1/2" point (kissaki). The blades geometry is designed to withstand rigorous cutting with the proper amount of flex to avoid chipping on soft and semi-hard targets. This blade has been "through tempered" giving it an equal hardness from the cutting edge to the spine. The Lotus is completed with a green textured lacquered saya (scabbard). This sword is not only aesthetically pleasing, it is also a great performer for the beginning and intermediate martial artist.
