The Medieval Knight Bastard Sword is a classic example of the Medieval swords found during the later part of the 14th C. These battle ready swords, along with their historical counterparts were commonly used by the nobility during the 100 years war, between England and France (1337 to 1453) . The Medieval Knight Bastard sword is an inspirational piece, based on historical models of the period. While conceptualizing the Knight Medieval sword, the Darksword Armory staff’s focus was creating the clean historical lines presented on the guard and sword blade. These lines were inspired by the architecture found at the later part of the middle ages. The Medieval Knight blade, crafted with a considerable taper, was common during the medieval swords of the 14th C. These highly tapered blades were engineered to counter the ever increasing plate armours emerging during the start of the 14th C. To offset these defensive measures, swords with long, narrow, deeply tapered blades and reinforced thrusting tips were favoured, not only by the German and Italian armies, but also by the English, and later the French. While keeping the traditional crucifix form, the Medieval knight bastard sword’s guard curves slightly to block and parry incoming blows. The guard is individually crafted from mild steel and finely shaped with smooth, classically elegant octagonal lines. The long hand-and-a-half handle allows the sword to be held in one or two handed fashion. While the base of the blade provides the strength to cut through opponents, the strong yet tapered tip allows for deadly thrusts, exceptional response and effective stabbing.Hand crafted and properly engineered for durability in combat, the Medieval Knight Bastard sword is a very solid, responsive, and perfectly balanced weapon. The blade, hand forged with 5160 High Carbon Steel, is skilfully Dual Hardened for exceptional cuts while remaining flexible for enduring combat.

"Handle wrap a bit loose, and the blade rattled, requiring me to peen and shim it to tighten everything. My suspicion is that since the blade was off-set in the guard, it was either crushed during shipping or storage, because I own another piece by Darksword, and it was in MUCH better condition than this one. That said, after shimming, the sword is a dream to handle." - Vance (3/5)
Reliks Response - The rattle was most likely caused from the extreme weather changes. The wood handle will contract and expand causing a gap or putting preassure on the pommel which can loosen it. Im glad you were able to easily fix it up.
