Celtic Long Sword

Early iron swords were generally rather short, since very little was known about how to produce a long blade with enough temper to keep it from folding up in battle. By the fifth century BC the Celts were able to produce a steely iron, and as a result their swords grew somewhat longer. The anthropomorphic hilt was still quite popular, and the combination made for a very attractive sword. We have copied a sword that was excavated from Brembate Sotto and probably made in the 5th century. We will admit to have cheated. The steel in our version is high carbon, and well tempered to produce a superb sword blade...one that a Celtic warrior would have loved to own. The well balanced blade is made from a high carbon steel that is equivalent to 1075; Windlass Steelcrafts has tempered it just right to produce a very tough functional sword. Complete with leather scabbard.
