Japanese AUS10A Steel

Designed by celebrated custom knife maker Andrew Demko, our Spartan is one of our most popular folding knives. The Spartans super-sharp blade is made from Japanese AUS10A Steel, and was designed to echo the aesthetics and cutting performance of the world famous Kukri. Its distinctive Kopis-inspired handle is precision injection molded out of Griv-Ex with heat treated steel liners, and this, in addition to our famous Tri-Ad lock, makes for a knife that is incredibly safe and secure. The Spartan also features the patented Demko thumb plate, which can be used to open the knife like a conventional "one handed opener" or be snagged on the edge of a pocket during the draw stroke and opened at lightning speed!

"Sharp out of the box as are most Cold Steel Knives. Very robust lock-up. The handle shape makes this folder very secure in the hand as the hand wont slip forward over the blade or slip out of the hand with even the most vigorous chopping action. One can also two finger the rear hook of the handle to give the folder better chopping power if used as a tool to process wood in a survival or camping situation. May be a little too scary looking for an EDC knife with it's aggressive Kukri styled blade. Oh, for resharpening one should use a round diamond hone or a Spyderco Sharpmaker and using the corners of the triangular ceramic rods ..... This works best with very recurved blades or to re-sharpen serrations: Flat grinding stones down work well with recurved blades. "
