The supposed reasons for the sudden appearance of the Vikings by the end of VIII century are many and different. The overpopulation at their homelands is one of the most mentioned reasons, this demographic explosion that took place in Norway and in Denmark during the VII and VIII centuries. Furthermore, the progressive setting of a stable rule in almost all Western Europe, specially in the continent after the foundation of Charlemagnes Empire, had provoked a remarkable increase in the European trade, this meant chances for piracy. Basic armament comprised sword or axe, spear and shield, while most men had a short knife attached to their belts. This beautiful dagger is an overall length of 14" and is constructed with stainless steel. The leaf blade is 7.5" long. This Viking Dagger is highly detailed and accented with brass coloured highlights and blue stones inlayed in the scabbard and the hilt.
