By: Kingston Arms
During the Renaissance, the arming sword worn by the German mercenaries known as the Landsknecht was the Katzbalger. Mainly a secondary weapon, this arming sword was a last defense against adversaries. The distinctive S-shape guard and blade profiles gives this sword it's place in history. Beautifully reproduced to specifications of Kingston Arms, the feel and balance of the Katzbalger will surprise the wielder with it's proportions. With the balance point just over two inches from the detailed stainless steel S-shaped guard, the configuration allows this weighty sword to be quick and powerful.

"Beautiful and well put together. The fit and finish is pretty much perfect with a handle assembly that seems like it’s unlikely to loosen up any time soon. The blade has an excellent edge, straight fuller and is fairly flexible but not too whippie. The one flaw might be the sheath. It’s clearly made of decent leather but the inner leather lining is quite rough and tends to scuff the blade. The stitching is also a bit minimalist and I suspect won’t last very long. Otherwise it’s a beautiful sword with excellent finish, solid construction, a beautiful design and is a good weight and solid handling. Excellent sword and well worth the money." - Conor (5/5)
