Flamberge Rapier
We’ve received many requests for a swept-hilt rapier that can be used with either hand, so we’ve taken a rare, attractive hilt form we ran across a while back (in a private collection), and made it symmetrical and ambidextrous. Combined with a visually arresting flamberge blade, it creates a strikingly beautiful rapier. The flamberge was a very popular blade type and was even thought to inflict a more serious wound. Although this was not true, it could considerably slow down an opponent’s blade that slid along its length during a parry. It also created a vibration in the other blade which could be disconcerting if one was not prepared for it. Our functional sword is hand forged high carbon steel and the basket is also steel. Grip is wood, covered with leather. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Overall-43¼" • Blade-37½" long • Wt.-2 lbs. 6 oz. Blade Length: 37 1/2" Overall Length: 43 1/4" Blade Material: High Carbon 1065/1095 Weight: 2 lb 6 oz
