Riveted Chainmaille Coif

This item can not be ordered at this time. It has been discontinued and can only be found through external links to our website.

A magnificent reproduction of a riveted chainmaille coif which was the principal head defense of the knights in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. The coif is constructed of 7/16” diameter rings (16 gauge) in the “European” 4 in 1 pattern with each link being individually riveted. The coif is full mantle and can be worn with or without a helmet. Chain mail was commonly worn over a quilted gambeson which prevented the body from being bruised when the mail was struck. This piece is zinc plated to prevent rust but we recommend keeping it oiled.
