The foot soldier generally preferred a heavy two-hand weapon, while the horseman went for the smaller, and more preferred weapon, as the sword had little chance of penetrating plate armour. We have been getting a lot of requests for some of the smaller axes, and in looking through some of the books on armour we decided to combine and produce an axe of typical Medieval design. The blade is hand forged by Windlass Steelcrafts , and is of a tough spring steel. The shaft is steel, and the grip is leather wrapped. These axes are relatively lightweight, yet capable of crushing armour. Gothic Battle Axe-5 inch blade. 3 inch spike. 23 inches overall.
