Common Tool for the Battlefield

Since there has been warfare their have been some clever adaptations of common tools used as effective weaponry on the battlefield. The axe and battle axe saw their share of battles until being phased by the end of the 16th century. Melee weapons declined after the introduction of gun powder but no completely. Many modern day military personnel still train to use the axe and other hand to hand weapons today.

How the Huntsman was Used

The huntsman axe could be used to cut down a tree but that would be a waste of it's lethal ability. This intimidating and deadly medieval axe is made with a thick wooden shaft to keep the axe from slipping out of your hand. It can be used effectively on foot but is even more devastating from horseback capable of delivering deep lethal wounds on a single blow. The forged high carbon steel axe head is securely mounted on a hardwood shaft. This example of a functional fighting axe was produced by expert craftsmen at Windlass Steelcrafts.
