No Dachi
The Japanese, with typical candor, referred to this No Dachi as a "Horse Killing Sword." Certainly it was more than big enough. Favored in battle by those big and strong enough to use it, it was never worn, but simply carried. These big swords were simply awesome in their cutting power. The large blade could destroy armor with ease when swung with the full power of a sturdy warrior. (This is similar to the sword carried by the Tishiro Mifune character in "Seven Samurai.") We are pleased to offer this magnifecent sword for your collection. Made from a tough high carbon steel, it is patterned after an original in a private collection. Grip is wood covered in leather. Parts are blued steel. One of the most impressive swords we've offered. This functional sword is made by Windlass Steelcrafts. Sorry no scabbard available. Circa 1300. Blade Length: 40" Overall Length: 58 1/2" Blade Material: High Carbon 1065/1095 Weight: 3 lb, 6 oz
